Overview Next from the probe to the alloy p. 2.2 and 2.3, gray-black color.
Palladium alloys are more uniformly than alloys of platinum and spread because of surface and structural heterogeneities in this case downward.
In the case of PdM alloy, wherein the content of at least 85% Pd may decrease U1 to 450 mV (palladium ~ 47-49%), and U2 to 300-250 mV. In the case of palladium coatings U1 corresponds to the above-mentioned alloys of palladium and U2 least 150-100 mV. The thinner a covering palladium-ment, the lower U2, reaching as far as the removal of the coating, the values characteristic of the base metal.
Diagrams of binary alloys of palladium-copper, palladium-nickel and palladium-silver showed that these alloys are a continuous series of solid solutions.

  • All of the above capabilities, obtained partly by extrapolation of experimental data are measured on a perfectly homogeneous alloy subjected to prolonged homogenizing annealing;
  • Next to the probe after testing (easily removed) alloys, silver has a rich color from gray to black.
  • Due to the small difference of potentials in different alloys, the measurements of these alloys, be sure to make an amendment to the U2 reference electrode (how to do it - is contained in the & laquo; Method of using the device "DMe-03" and in the preface to this table).
  • In the study of silver products, coated with a layer of gold, the potential value of U1 can be obtained the corresponding values for gold alloys 999-958 samples, and a value higher than the U2 silvering 50-80 mV, not even in the golden sample 375, if the coating thickness ~ 3-5 microns. When the thickness of a coating of 6-10 microns, both readings U1 and U2 correspond to the testimony of 999-750 gold samples. It is necessary to use special methods (needle scratching or removing layers on a stone or a file) and re-testing to ascertain the truth.

© 2001-2015 KBSP. All rights reserved.

Gold bullion standard GOST-28058 weight from 11,000.0 to 13,300.0. Made of brand AuA-1P, AuA-1,AuA-2 and AuA-3.
Ingots brand of evil and AuA-1P and AuA-1 must contain not less than the gold of 99.99%. AuA-2 not less than 99.98%, AuA-3 - not less than 99.95%. Direct destructive analytical method allows to determine the gold content of the gold ingots with an accuracy of 0.05 - 0.03%, so the high marks in ingots controlled impurity content of the following: silver, platinum, palladium, copper, iron, zinc, bismuth, tin, manganese, chromium, nickel, antimony, rhodium, silicon, and magnesium. Their amount does not exceed 0.01% (AuA-1P and AuA-1, and bullion brand of AuA-1P further restricted the content of platinum, palladium, copper, lead, iron, zinc, bismuth, tin, antimony and rhodium - 0 0005% in total 0,001 in gold other brands).
GOST-28058 requires control of all of the above impurities, most often associated with gold ore in the localities. However, in practice the ingot may contain other impurities in amounts comparable to the above. This leads to the fact that the value of the electrochemical potentials, indicating instruments « DMe-03 » Gold bullion on different plants differ. Likewise, they may differ on bullion (OST -117-30-96) from 1g. to 1000g. and there are some differences in the cast and forged bars.
The following values of the potentials are the result of the test instrument "DMe-03" standard and about a thousand ingots, various refineries.

Therefore, when the cooling rate actually used silver and silver casts they had to microlocal level are not uniform in composition, which is very good device feels "DMe-03", where different parts of the surface of the readings can be very different, and it seems that each alloy, the average one particular sample is a mixture of microcrystalline alloys, the higher and lower samples. Prolonged annealing (which makes the old Russian masters) eliminates this heterogeneity, which dramatically increases the quality of the products. Very strong influence on potential silver-copper alloys have impurities of other metals. By GOST 51152-98, "Alloys based on noble metal jewelry jewelry". In these alloys in the table is allowed in the amount of not more than 0.15 - 0.1% of total impurities. Allowed impurities - lead (not more than 0.004 - 0.005%), iron (not more than 0.08 - 0.13%), antimony (not more than 0.002%), bismuth (not more than 0,002%) and oxygen (no more than 0.01 %). But in practice, the content of these impurities in real alloys manufacturers do not monitor (especially oxygen content), leading to a dramatic deterioration of the corrosion properties of alloys (rapid darkening, etc.). Uncontrolled impurities of zinc, cadmium, etc. can sharply (by about 50mV lower potentials U1 and U2 in the alloys, while impurities gold and palladium or platinum can raise the potentials U1 and U2 even to 100-200mV). Such products with a mixture of these metals corrode very little (almost do not darken).

Influence of technological operations on uniformity of products from precious metals

All products made of precious metals are usually never made of pure metals; used in their manufacture alloys, in which, along with the precious, non-precious metals are included.
All alloys in contrast to pure metals, not solidify at a certain temperature (for pure precious metal is specified in the first sections of this guide), and crystallize in the temperature range (see. Table). Thus, depending on the casting conditions, cooling rate, etc. casting on the micro level never obtained homogeneous, the upper layers of castings always enriched in the metal within the alloy, melting point highest. Therefore, to make the product homogeneous composition and in order to make the size of the individual grains, the minimum crystals, products must be subjected to a special, often very long, annealing.
Unfortunately, to reduce the cost of the production process, manufacturers often do not properly carry out this operation, and for certain alloys make them fairly uniform almost unreal.
When measuring instruments "DMe-03" such local heterogeneity of the alloy is very well identified. This spread of values when measuring potential in different areas of the surface may be many tens of millivolts (not ± 10 mV). For specific alloys placed in these tables, it is specifically stated.
It is clear that the heterogeneity of the alloy (at an average grade of precious metal that meet the specified sample) dramatically increases the potential for corrosion, mechanical damage, etc., ie, significantly affects the quality of products produced from such alloys.
Impurities of metals and metalloid found in some new ligatures (such as silicon) may also have a significant effect on the readings. It is stipulated in the relevant sections of the manual.

FAQ

What is the originality of the security marking on artistic values determined Devis-18?

There is a hidden marking (drawing invisible tags to support the membership of the subject marked the museum's collection.) The most common example of such means of marking labels are based luminophore identified by a characteristic glow under ultraviolet radiation. The second level includes the marking label in which to register an identifier requires the use of special analytical equipment, such as Devis-18. Examples of these can serve as a marking means marks on the basis of the infrared or other spectral luminescence characteristics. Experimental examples using stamp marking method
